Just a Little Magic

Something funny struck me late last night.

I was thinking...

Maybe some incidents aren't as sudden as we think they are. We think they are because we don't see the connections. We aren't capable of seeing the whole picture. The whole complete picture. We are unable to connect the dots.

I imagined if I were to have a conversation with our creator... what will he say?

Creator : When I created all of you, I made you all interconnected. All your strengths were built on others' weaknesses and vice versa. So none of you are complete without the rest.

Me: Not complete? You mean?

Creator : I mean everyone of you form a complete picture, a story, regardless of where and what you are. Kind of like piecing a multi billion pieces jigsaw.

Creator : In other words, when one person acts, he/she causes a ripple effect which they won't be aware of. For instance, the bus driver decides to slow down and stop at the amber traffic light. It may set off a chain of events. He may thereafter be constantly stopped by the red lights whenever he approaches the subsequent traffic lights. That may lead to someone being late for work or an important appointment. Or someone on the bus may get frustrated and hence affected his/her judgement for the day, creating impact on others he/she may meet later part of the day. And so the ripple continues.

Creator: In other words, when you think something happened out of the blue, that's because you didn't see it coming from someone directly connected to you. It doesn't eliminate the probability that it was the result of a person of another degree away from you.

Me : Ok. I can understand that but what do you mean when our strengths are built on others' weaknesses?

Creator: Hmm.. It's like a perfect being has 100 attributes. Everyone of you has the various combinations of some of these attributes. So all of you are imperfect but together you are whole. So it is natural that you tend to gravitate towards people who have the strengths you lack. Yet because you are different in nature, conflicts tend to happen.. Which of course will set off another ripple effect.

I admit, lately some events have caused such thoughts. There have been times when I wonder why things turn out the way they are. It is not meant to challenge any faith or belief, and my mind has somehow come up with a reasoning to pause all the questions. You see, the simple answer of "Life is unfair" is not sufficient to quieten the mind. It seeks answers where perhaps they may be none.

If I may quote "Perhaps in destiny's grand design there are no random meetings, and all is meant to be"

Unconditional Love

Sonnet 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds

Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose Worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom:
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

–William Shakespeare

Remember those days when you fall head over heels with someone in your teens and adults around tell you knowingly, that's only puppy love or a crush. It's transitional, it is a phase we will all pass.

What is love? Can we all put a age to it to decide when love is love and it's not puppy or infatuation? Will we know love when we come face to face with it? Will we ever know?

I got to know a friend lately. She met her husband when she was only 13. At that age she already knew he's the one for her. I can see in her eyes her love for him, how they shine whenever she talks about those days. How her face exudes that glow when she recalls the times they had together and only to realise so many years have passed. She is now 60.

One would think a marriage that lasts that long, that survives the long distances and months of absence would be strong to overcome all odds. It is now at the brink of being over. The trigger? Months of bottled up anger on both sides, lots of he said, she said and eventually someone said something hurtful. It is painful enough for her to decide it's better for her to live somewhere else with her 4 cats than to give him another chance. Her heart is set.

I am reminded of how all love needs nurturing. Every love needs a kind word, a loving gaze and a gentle cuddle every now and then. It doesn't matter if you are in your teens, or adulthood, the demands of love is the same. So I guess the real question is "Does unconditional love exist"?

a dose of fresh air

This sales person at Artfriend told me "When you buy a can of liquid, it is essential not to shake it immediately. One ought to let it stand and open the lid to inject a dose of fresh air into the can. Then close it tightly to give it a good shake"

I had locked this blog for a long time and now it's probably time to inject a dose of fresh air into it. I had miss this blog and it remains to be my favourite so far. It is here that I never felt the need to dilute my feelings. It is here that I have been able to express my thoughts candidly. More importantly it is here that I found some of my dearest friends.

So, hello world, again and let the fresh air come in.
