A Thought...

Checked this out in the dictionary... Can't believe that this is the first time that I looked up the meaning of "love"...

love ( P ) Pronunciation Key (lv)n.
A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.
A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance.
An intense emotional attachment, as for a pet or treasured object.

If love is a feeling of intense desire and attraction or a deep, tender, ineffable feeling toward a person... can one control oneself against or stop from loving someone? If it is incapable of being expressed in words, then how would we know if the feeling we felt is love and not something else? If it is an intense emotional attachment, how would we know that it is not merely a sense of possessiveness or obsession?
I suppose this is an ancient question... "问世间情为何物"? What is love? How was it able to lead to the downfall of dynasties and man (or for that matter woman)? Why would it lead to one being so oblivious to reality and to the world around him/her? Are we all capable of loving all the time? Will we ever stop loving?

  1. Feels good to care for someone and be cared for. Is this love?
