The End is Near

Here I am standing alone in a corner, wrinkled and dry. No one took a look at me, no one noticed that I was there.
It was just like yesterday when everyone would stop to admire my bloom, would love to take me to brighten their homes or to lighten someone's heart. Photographers would gladly take close ups, finding the angle that flatters my colours and curves. Painters would want to capture that full bloom on their canvas. No one would want to capture a flower close to her end.
My end is near. Many of my kind had gone before me. They too cannot escape the cruelty of time. No matter how beautiful they were in their prime, no matter how they stood out among others, they will still wither and die. Others will soon take their place, enjoying the brief attention. But no one escapes this final fate.
Would there come a time when others would celebrate our past youth... Remembering us for what we had been and continue to be.... See beyond our old wrinkled faces and fading colours and believes that to our final moments, we can still brighten their day.
