We are all part of a food chain. Though seemingly we are not eaten by anyone, but the idea of hunt or be hunted is very much alive in our societies.
I am referring to our own personal lives. How some of us play the role of the hunted... and some of us the role of the hunter... and sometimes we play each role depending on the situation and circumstances.
For many years, men have played the role of the hunter. They "hunt" and put food on the table. They "hunt" to find the right partner to share their dwellings with and to procreate. For many years, they dominate.
These days, it is no longer the picture. The hunter's role need not be played by men. So often they are also played by women. I don't really know how men perceive this invasion and how they feel about sharing their power. Perhaps, in so many ways, they may feel threatened. Imagine the prey has the same power as the predator and the prey will one day become your predator.
In the world of courtship, the men used to look, choose their "prey" and then go in pursuit. These days, however, the predator chooses his prey, approach and pursue, but the prey will choose her predator. She may not accept this predator and will only play the role of the prey to someone she prefers. To others, she is the predator. Well, not to mention that there will be some who will have many predators... but she has the power to choose. So who has the power? the predator or the prey? Come to think of it... who is the predator? Is the one in pursuit the predator, or the one who throws the bait the predator?
How crude. Some of us may say. Associating ourselves with the animals. But we are animals. We have animal instinct. Whether we like it or not, we share the basic needs and we are driven by them. Animals like us have feelings and they communicate. Some of us have shown beastly behaviours that even animals are incapable of.
